About us
The Central Gippsland Tennis Regional Council is a regional arm of Tennis Victoria. Along with local associations, the regional councils have an important role in the development of tennis in Victoria. (Link to information and a map of country tennis regions.) Local associations co-ordinate clubs and events within their boundaries.The regional councils offer additional programs as well as squad and tournament opportunities for players, from the local associations, to be involved in higher levels of competition. Important events include:
SENIOR INTER-ASSOCIATION MATCHES Each year, associations from within the Central Gippsland Region compete in the senior inter-association event, the “Tom McAllister Shield”. Teams consisting of 8 men and 8 women, usually contest against two other associations on the day. Eligible Associations are listed on our Associations page.
JUNIOR INTER-ASSOCIATION MATCHES The Region also provides an opportunity for up-and-coming junior players throughout the Region to compete in the “Max Roberts Shield”. Junior age groups are 16 & under, 14 & under, and 12 & under (based on age at 31 December in the year of the event). Teams consist of 6 boys and 6 girls from eligible associations.
